Job Description

The Body Shop Manager directly supervises and coordinates the activities and responsibilities in the body shop. Accountable for the body shop performance, including but not limited to, labor management, service level, operation expenses, team management and improving customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Diagnoses and repairs for all damaged equipment along with fundamental maintenance repairs to tractors and trucks using well-established policies and procedures to restore equipment back to original state.
•Prepares and issues work schedules, deadlines and duty assignments for body shop employees.
•Supervises the work of body shop employees to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines and proper procedures.
•Implements departmental policies, procedures and service standards in conjunction with management.
•Discusses job performance problems with employees to identify causes.
•Trains employees in the areas of company policies and job duties.
•Recruits, interviews and selects employees for hire.
•Analyzes financial activities of the department and provides input into the budget planning and preparation process.
•Designs, implements and evaluates staff training and development programs, customer service initiatives and performance measurement criteria.
•Maintains a safe work environment
•Manages the payroll and monitors and controls the overtime.
•Other duties as required.

Requirements
  • 4 years of apprenticeship (Journeyman) or 4 years of experience in Truck/Trailer Body shop repair
  • Experience in Fiberglass repair to repair vehicles to company standards to include panel repairs, straightening and filling when required.
  • EPA License (as appropriate)
  • High school education or GED
  • In-depth knowledge of all hand, air and power tools required for this industry
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of welding and Oxy/Acetylene cutting procedures
  • Clean MVR
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
