Full Time Hourly Rate: $17.73 - $29.06
Pay Scale/Grade: H3
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Schedule: Monday through Friday and every other Saturday.

Equipment Operator -Operates landfill heavy equipment under close supervision of Landfill Supervisor/Transfer Station Supervisor and/or experienced operators.
-Drives dump truck hauling various materials.
-Operates off road dump truck, wheel loader, bulldozer, and farm tractor with bushhog and box blade.
-Operates other equipment as directed to improve operating skills and diversity, when assigned.
-Continuously monitors location of general public.
Equipment Maintenance -Prior to operating equipment, performs safety and maintenance inspections of assigned equipment.
-While equipment is being operated, continuously monitor gauges and other indicators for non-standard conditions.
-Notifies Landfill Supervisor/Transfer Station Supervisor of mechanical or safety problems. May assist with mechanical failure repairs.
Manual Labor -Performs related manual labor as required to maintain landfill in best operation conditions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS Required Skills, Abilities and Knowledge: Skills to communicate information to supervisors and co-workers; Skills to understand operator manuals, directives, procedures and instructions; Skills in basic math to use measuring instruments and to read equipment gauges; Skills to follow verbal instruction; ability to maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public; ability to effectively communicate in a courteous manner; writing skills to clearly and neatly complete reports as needed. Taught on the Job: Knowledge of practices applied in the use of a wide variety of heavy equipment for various maintenance and construction operations; Knowledge of safety rules, including accident causes and prevention.
Education and Experience: Preferred experience in performing the full range of operations with bulldozer, landfill compactor, rubber tire loader, grinder, windrow turner and other types of heavy equipment.
Special Requirements: -Must possess a valid Driver's License and be insurable by insurance standards.
-Class B CDL is preferred.
-Willing to work overtime and weekends.
Physical Requirements: -See well enough to read, write and safely operate assigned equipment.
-Hear well enough to respond to verbal communications.
-PPE is worn to minimize exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace injuries and illnesses.
-Constantly using vision and hearing when reading monitors, being aware of surroundings and listening to equipment, traffic and alarms.
-Speak well enough to answer questions in a polite, courteous manner.
-Body mobility to perform maintenance and operate various types of equipment; Body movement of mobility to bend, move, stand, and lift.
-Use of hands and fingers to perform manual work.
-Occasionally lifting, carrying, pulling, or exerting 20-50 lbs., 10-25 lbs. frequently or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
-Frequently standing to complete daily tasks, sitting when driving and operating equipment, walking around inspection sites, carrying equipment and supplies, climbing onto equipment, and using foot controls to drive trucks and operate equipment.
-Occasionally kneeling or crouching when using a level and monitoring equipment, bending to connect parts or use tools, and balancing when mounting and dismounting heavy equipment; daily lifting shovels and other equipment, pushing/pulling equipment, reaching for of handling tools and supplies.
-Tasks are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as extreme heat or extreme cold, dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
