Description Do you love history and working with people? Faust Park is seeking a part-time Museum Guide to provide administrative, visitor services, and program support. This position builds experience in customer service, public speaking and knowledge of history and historic buildings. Museum Guides work with the public and aide in educational programs and events at Faust Park as well as provide administrative support. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, collaborative, energetic, customer oriented and possess a positive, friendly personality. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience working in the field of history and historic preservation.
This is an on-call position with a predetermined schedule (monthly). The work schedule can be flexible but will generally be 3 days per week/24 hours per week. Work will include some evenings and weekends to provide support for special events and programs. The starting salary is $15.00 hourly and there are no benefits provided. Examples of Duties Essential Function Examples Provide information to the public regarding events, exhibits and attractions by explaining historical or artistic significance of exhibits, conduct research to identify additional detail.
Conduct tours of a historic site or museum.
Monitor building and exhibits to ensure safety of patrons and security of artifacts and exhibits while museum is open to the public.
Provide care of museum artifacts by cleaning, dusting and waxing.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications We welcome candidates of all backgrounds who are interested in sharing the history of St. Louis County and Faust Park. Candidates will have a minimum of 1 year of customer service experience with some college course work in History, Education, interest or knowledge of history.
Candidates should possess a welcoming demeanor and be dependable and punctual.
Possession of a valid Drivers License.
Additional Information SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT : A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.
The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.
The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.
All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
