Virtual Sign Language Interpreter | Alabama Schools

We are in search of a qualified Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential communication support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The interpreter will work alongside students, educators, and school personnel to ensure equal access to academic, social, and extracurricular activities.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff.
• Accurately interpret spoken language to ASL and vice versa.
• Collaborate with staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics.
• Attend required meetings and training.

Qualifications:

• Certification in American Sign Language (ASL) or equivalent.
• Experience as a sign language interpreter, preferably in schools.
• Proficiency in ASL and knowledge of deaf culture.
• High school diploma required; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.

Preferred:

• RID certification.
• Experience with K-12 students.
• Familiarity with educational technologies.

Compensation:
