Position Description Incumbents in this position are trained to portray specific sets of health problems and symptoms that will aide students in learning the proper techniques and procedures for taking medical histories, performing medical examinations, determining diagnoses, and learning the appropriate way to educate and inform patients of diagnoses.
Major/Essential Functions Performing a variety of duties in order to accurately and consistently portray specific types of symptoms as defined by a patient case. This frequently includes memorizing the history of their present illness, past medical history, physical exam results as well as demonstrating appropriate body language, emotional status, and personality characteristics. Standardized patients will be trained and monitored to ensure the proper information is given per case, professionalism is maintained as well as confidentiality to protect student privacy.
Preferred Qualifications - Checking and responding to email at least 3 times/day.
- Basic computer skills (typing, navigating mouse, adjusting volume, ZOOM controls).
- Ability to memorize and accurately portray assigned content via verbal responses including communicate effectively in writing for assessments.
- Persons with background experience in either healthcare, veterinary or medical, office administration or the performing arts, are strongly encouraged to submit an application.
Pay Statement Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan website.
Occasional Duties Hired standardized patients are required to check email at least 3 times a day, TTUHSC email is SimCentral's primary source of communication. There is no specific minimum number of hours guaranteed, our SP program provides needs specific to the academic year curricula and schedules. Flexibility in daily schedule is required, being available at least 3 half days during the work week is preferred, some exceptions made for various circumstances.
