Position summary : The Studio Assistant reports to our Portland Studio Manager and is the go-to person in the studio for all things. They have a passion for photography personally and or professionally, they have a sound technical knowledge of power, lighting, computer systems. The Studio Assistant will set-up, break down, maintain, and fix equipment, they will assist the Studio Manager in operational planning regarding studio space, and set types. They will be accountable for studio organization and cleanliness. This position will also assist in functional studio duties such as ordering catering, supplies and ensuring safety and security procedures are followed.
Responsibilities and essential functions: - Coordinating with the Studio Manager to set up and maintain the studio.
- Studio general maintenance, cleaning, organization as well as safety and security.
- Maintaining photo & video sets - Painting, cleaning, equipment checks.
- Organizing, unpacking, and setting up camera and lighting equipment at external locations.
- Light maintenance of equipment and or coordinating repairs.
- Coordinating rental of supplemental photography equipment.
- Proven work experience as a Studio Assistant or a similar role in the Media industry.
- Familiarity with professional cameras and lighting equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
- May assist Digitech, Photographer 3 and Studio Manager both on production sets and in studio maintenance.

Knowledge and Experience: - Demonstrated experience as a photographer, videographer or as an assistant in a studio environment.
- Comfort and experience in assisting a photographer on a photography set.
- Proven knowledge of photography/video studio equipment and its safe operation.
- Experience in utilizing production workflow management tools desired, e.g., Shot Flow.
- Basics in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere.
- Experience with Capture One, Canon, PhaseOne, and Profoto lighting, preferred.
- Entry-level skill in Microsoft Office software programs, specifically, Word and Excel (Within Excel, the candidate should be able at a minimum to execute a search, sort a list by applying multiple filter settings, populate a new column of data in an existing spreadsheet, and manage file conversions among CSV and text-based files to Excel.
- Experience in basic computer connectivity, trouble shooting and or physical equipment repair is a plus.

- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring seamless execution through stellar organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to details with ability to focus on a repetitive task and consistently accurate entry of data.
- Solves non-routine problems in collaboration with his or her manager; takes initiative to modify procedures and processes as appropriate and makes contributions that impact work team results.
- Demonstrated planning skills and the ability to prioritize using information around due dates, clients, internal resource skill sets and when to escalate for assistance and awareness.
- Ability to work both independently and within a changing team.
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedules.
- Is respectful and courteous when interacting with others, a calm and collaborative demeanor is expected when working through conflict.
- Must have proficient basic math skills and ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects across the studio within 40 to 50 pounds.
